August comps

What a busy month August has been! We started with the 2nd F3N competition of the League at Bassinbourn, near Royston, Herts. Our hosts at the Road Farm Heli Club made us very welcome and the weather couldn't have been better. What more could we ask for?? At the end of the day, Stu Smith emerged victorious (just!), his lead over Duncan Osbourn coming down to just 1.63 normalised points out of 3000. Incredibly close! Our own Dave Fisher came in a respectable 3rd. In the Sport Class, Matt Hennem won with Russell Cleaver & James Green coming in 2nd & 3rd respectively. The F3N crowd is building and are an awesome bunch of people. Below is a picture of all those who attended the Bassingbourn comp - competitors, judges & spectators - enjoying the sunshine.

Then last weekend we had the BMFA Nationals at Barkston Heath. This was also to be the 2nd round of the F3N Team Trials (1st round was at Bassingbourn). Saturday we had the helicopter flightline to ourselves and managed to complete 4 rounds.

Below is a photo of the 9 pilots who competed on the Saturday.

Nats entries

Stu Smith (having an awesome year) won the preliminary rounds to secure top place in the UK's F3N team for 2015. The team will consist of Stu, Duncan Osbourn, Dave Fisher & Connor Sloan (Junior entrant). John Nobbs is our team reserve. Congratulations to those four guys who will represent the UK at the World F3N Championships in Austria next year.

F3N team 2015

On Sunday we flew 3 finals rounds in between the F3C pilots flying their comp. Fortunately the weather was with us and we had finished our comp by 3pm. Stu Smith had left Saturday evening so this left the remaining Pro pilots to compete for the podium places. The final results were Duncan Osbourn in 1st, Dave Fisher in 2nd and Connor Sloan in 3rd. In the Sport class Ethan Williams (in his first F3N comp) and Russell Cleaver were neck and neck in every round with Ethan just beating Russell to 1st place. Matt Hennem came in 3rd. A great weekend and a great result all round.
