Zone - wow, what a weekend!

If you were at the Zone competition at Fleet Air Arm Museum last Sunday / Monday, then I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that it was the most exciting two days of 3D flying that I was ever lucky enough to witness. For those who weren't there, all I can say is you missed a humdinger of a competition. The top eight pilots flew some amazing flights to battle through to the final four.

After a surprise crash, 'I messed up' said the modest Nick Maxwell, Nick found himself flying against Luca Pescante for 3rd place. Both flew incredibly well but Nick pipped Luca to a podium place. The final battle between Jamie Robertson & good pal Ben Storick was epic in more ways than one. Ben certainly flew the best he had all competition in that final flight but Jamie, cool as ever, rose to the challenge. Despite clipping his tail blades about 2 minutes into the flight, he carried on to complete what was his most incredible flight of the weekend. It always amazes me how these guys up their game with each flight. A truly deserving champion. Jamie Robertson held onto his title of Zone Champion for the third year running. Can't wait for next year!

Dave is now busy preparing for the Scottish Nationals in Aberdeen which will be held over the weekend of 7/8 June where he'll be defending his title of F3N Scottish Nationals Champion. Then the following weekend we have Helifest to look forward to at Weston Park. This is going to be one busy season... can't wait!
